RITUAL IMAGE

Ritual Image explores the value lost in the seemingly “mundane” via image and sound. By capturing ordinary scenes and their associated soundscapes around the city of Cincinnati, the installation intends to elevate the meaning and connection to the overlooked world. The images and sounds are experienced in a 5 piece installation constructed from speakers, an arduino audio player, an LED light panel, and a medium format film positive mounted on a 12x12 acrylic panel and activated by touch. This stripped down presentation of the project echoes the theme of the images it shows: that close attention reveals meaning in what often goes unseen.
